Color Magic Lyrics Page

For the past 9 months we have been writing and recording new songs for our upcoming CD Color Magic. It has been a labor of love as we laughed and cried our way through 14 new songs. We are delighted to announce that our release date for Color Magic will be September 1st 2007. Read on for CD info. To preorder a copy e mail us at batduo@bellsouth.net letting us know how many copies you would like and we will rush them to you the moment we receive them. ($12.00 each) 14 songs 48 minutes

You will probably notice as you drift through the songs on Color Magic that there is a theme to our pediatric insanity. This collection deals with Family Matters. We talk about the excitement of the first day of Pre-School, (Going to Pre-School) the chaos of having to share a bathroom in a large family, (Bathroom Blues) and the happy exhaustion of Parents attempting to set and maintain Family bedtimes, (The Bedtime Bug) for their Kids. Mr. Sackett the Sock Man is a ludicrous peek into the minds of Mr. Tim and Ms Laura, while Modern Girl inspires young Ladies to follow their dreams. Hamburger Blues is a simple down and dirty blues number that celebrates what we all love...food! Just the 6 of Us was inspired by a pregnant friend of ours who thought for a time, because her tummy grew so large, that she was going to have 17 babies. Our imagination went wild, as we thought of all the babies getting to know each other in Mums Tum and using her as a jungle Gym. And so the song was born. Winter in Moscow a live concert performance, is a tribute to travel, and is the tale of us knocking around the world when we were younger!

Ms Laura’s 2nd grade Teacher, Mrs. Jean Butler, now 93 years old loves to travel. Every summer she would take off to the Himalayas or China or the North Pole, and would regale her class with stories of adventure and romance. We wrote The Teacher for all of our Faculty friends, who still have their faculties because they show their Students how to fly with their minds. The Vegetable Crowd is an odd little ditty about tolerance, understanding and inclusion, while the story of Little Mister, set in the mists of time and the hills of County Clare, lends a clear vision to that elusive thing we call love. Summer in New York pays homage to the Kids that we played to in New England in the 80’s.Those same Kids, now Parents, bring their families to our Concerts. We hope you enjoy listening to Color Magic as much as we enjoyed making it.

As Educators, we all recognize that nothing in the curriculum is more important to a Child's Early Education than those experiences, which reinforce the learning of literacy. Not just reading, but writing, thinking, talking, listening, and creating. All of these skills and concepts are crucial to the educational, psychological, and social well being of the young Student. Efforts to welcome, understand, and affirm all students--and to treat their cultural and linguistic backgrounds as equally valid and important--should be reflected in every facet of the school environment. It is with this in mind, and our passion to promote literacy, that we proudly offer our 2007/8 Assembly Programs to Elementary Schools. Our commitment to the Education of Young Children in America is the reason we are The Battersby Duo. Our message is simple; Be happy, love life, and love education. Our "tongue in cheek" Monty Python style has earned us a reputation that has far exceeded our wildest expectations. Our simple songs encourage and nurture young minds; Our humor has tickled the odd funny bone. Thanks to the millions of Kids, Parents, and Teachers whom we have had the privilege of calling our Friends for the past 2 decades. And welcome to our web site
